Nishmasi-Hebrew

FAQ

  • What does Nishmasi encompass?

Nishmasi is the Parent Brand, and it is divided into three categories:

    1. Prime Publishers, Inc., where we produce curriculum materials such as workbooks and posters, and interactive games and activities like finger puppet kits  and more.
    2. The Building LIVES modality, which includes workshops, professional development, and training in the 5 step model, teaching children to Listen, Identify the emotion, Validate, Empathize, and Self-Soothe.
    3. Ruach Uneshama therapeutic groups, where we grow, play and learn skills for emotional awareness and regulation.
  • What ages are your programs geared for?

In a school setting, the programs can be implemented as a three-year program, starting from age four. The workbooks are presented in a preschool classroom setting, but the concepts apply to a broader range of ages and have been applied successfully with older little clients, including boys and girls up until age eight. In private and group sessions, the material and programs are geared towards children in Pre-1A through 6th grade, aged 5-11.

  • Are the workbooks clear enough to teach on my own?

Very much so. The workbooks were created as a set table, waiting for you to come and partake of their wealth. We also offer comprehensive training as well as recorded step-by-step instructions, and you can always reach out to us with any questions.

  • Must the books be done as a series, or can they be done separately?

The workbooks are part of a cumulative curriculum and are meant to build upon the one before. The most impressive results have come from the schools that used the entire program, which encompasses introductory materials for the first year, books one through three for the second year, and books four and five for the third year.

It is possible to divide the curriculum differently. Some schools divided it into more sections over a longer period of time. Overall, we strongly recommend starting with the first three books.

  • How are the Workbooks used in class? How can I use them at home with my child? What about in therapy sessions?

In a classroom setting, the workbooks are used once a week in circle time and then in small groups, and once a week the concepts are incorporated in a play or music activity. Children bring home the books a few times per year, so parents and children can review the lessons learned.  The carryover outside the classroom is beneficial for deeper integration of the skills.  Many parents have reported keeping the books on the shelf for reference even after the school year was over! In therapy sessions, children receive a workbook to do with a therapist or counselor to encourage discussion and foster emotional awareness and regulation. Similar to the classroom curriculum, children bring home the books for parents to review and reinforce the lessons learned.

  • Can I get your programs for my School via funding?

Yes, we work with all large agencies and funding. Reach out to us for more information.

  • What modalities are the programs built on?

The programs are built on Torah values and foundations. They incorporate inspiration from Tehillim and stress simcha shel mitzva. Our programs integrate SEL competencies

(self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision making, social awareness, and relationship skills). DBT and CBT modalities, including mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress-tolerance and emotional regulation. Furthermore, our Ruach Uneshama sessions include Play Therapy techniques and build social skills.

  • Who facilitates the groups?

To facilitate the Ruach Uneshama groups, we handpicked the most warm and connecting counselors, all of whom are educators in their own right. All our facilitators are trained by Zipora Gordon herself, with a focus on building up each child individually.

  • Can Nishmasi programs be brought to my therapy center or school?

Please feel free to reach out for more information, or with any specific requests.
